DEAD_LIVING_THINGS x Instruments of things

Fashion Sound Performance

The DEAD_LIVING_THINGS project was created in cooperation with the music technology start-up Instruments of Things. Instruments of Things develops motion sensors that can be used to control electronic sounds. These sensors are used within the collection to increase the emotional perception of fashion through dependence on body, sound and clothing.
In the DEAD_LIVING_THINGS collection, in which the fashion body itself works as an instrument with the help of the "IoT"- sensors, the dynamics between body, clothing and sound are implemented visually and auditory –  the sound becomes visible, the movement audible. The result is a new form of fashion presentation, in which the emotional response of the viewer is raised to a higher level through the interplay of the human senses.

COLLECTION

MODESTY

Less skin-showing fashion for Generation Z– INspired by fashionistas in the united arab emirates

The name of the collection "Modesty" - derived from "Modest-Fashion", means fashion, which varies between cultures and countries. There is no clear interpretation as it is influenced by the socio-cultural characteristics of each country. This leads to self-defined rules. For some of us less skin-showing clothing means following religious rules, for others it is the next trend. Within this collection it represents an ANTI-FASHION MOVEMENT.
The aim is to present the “restrained aesthetics” in an alternative way in order to continue interpreting a “new” generation. It's important to show that the modest trend can be worn by both: Millennials and Generation Z.
The daily content on social media shows guideline trends which you have to follow in order to feel stylish and sexy. Young women take models, artists and influencer as role models and imitate their styles without thinking about their own beauty and how to express it in the best way.

the goldrunner x keypod

Telekom fashion fusion berlin

Through the collaboration with the company "Keypod" and the JAK Academy, I designed a ski suit that can be used to control mobile devices using the built-in keypod technology. This works as follows: Keypod develops washable sensors that can be sewn into clothing. These sensors – small buttons on clothing are programmed to control apps without actually using the mobile device.
My idea and inspiration was that I wanted to design a very modern and avant-garde ski-one-suit that, thanks to its futuristic style, looks as if it had arisen from future and landed in the present.
The combination of the ski suit and the Keypod technology means that the wearer feels super safe and stylish while skiing #safetyfirst.
The design is essentially inspired by the decade of the 1980's and thus by the science fiction film: "Blade Runner" by Ridley Scott. The film is set in a dystopian future in Los Angeles 2019. Android replicants, deceptively similar to humans, are being developed to do the work and wars of humans on distant planets and space stations. The film confronts us with the question of our own humanity.

the “Goldrunner” was exhibited at the Telekom Fashion Fusion event in Berlin 2018 and thus gained a lot of attention. In the end, the ski suit was bought by the Telekom and equipped with the smart technology by Keypod. Today the prototype is an integral part of Fashion-Tec trade fairs and exhibitions.

upcycling project

yes/no/Maybe

five shirts become a wedding dress, but make it fashun!

#circularfashion

With the help of drapery art I am completely free to work with shapes and details, as I am not tied to fixed sewing patterns. Most of the time, the outcome is a very surprising result that could never been achieved by just sticking to patterns. I always prefer a mix of both working methods to get into the flow and to see where it can led me.

In the upcycling project YES/NO/MAYBE I used five old shirts from second hand shops and redesigned them into a wedding dress. But there's no bride without matching shoes – old slippers were covered in fabric and complemented with draped roses applications.
